Hello to all of our families and community members! Now that we’re more than a month into the school year, our students are settling into their routine and rigorous instruction has started. We have completed baseline testing for all our students, to include Reading, Math, Civics, and 8th grade Science. We look forward to monitoring the progress our students will be making in all of these areas. Interim grade reports will soon be available to you via the Focus parent portal. If you need help setting that up, please call the school or visit the district or school website for more information on how to do that. If you see that your student is underperforming in one of his/her classes, please reach out to the teachers. We will be setting up parent conferences, as well as specialized meetings for any student who has an academic plan, such as a 504, IEP, or ESOL supports. We are still making critical schedule changes, but for the majority of students’ schedules are set for now. Mrs. Ramos, our Assistant Principal for Curriculum, should be your main point of contact if you still have schedule issues. You can email her at [email protected]. We have already sent home several parent messages through email, phone and text so if you have not received any of them, please call the school to ensure we have your correct contact information. We hope that your students are reporting that they feel happy and safe at school. We are working hard to ensure every child finds a home at BSMCA!

Principal's Message

Welcome to Bonita Springs Middle Center for the Arts! I am so honored to be the Principal of this amazing school. Several years ago, I started teaching in Lee County and I’m proud to say it is the only place I’ve ever wanted to work. Our district and school offer so many opportunities for students to learn and thrive. Our goal at BSMCA is to provide a school where students can excel in academics, athletics, and of course, the Arts. Our students receive Core instruction at the highest level, with rigorous engagement continually offered through AVID and Cambridge curriculums and strategies. Through our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) system, Character Education, and progressive discipline plans, students are exposed to the value of personal responsibility and respect. We strongly encourage critical and creative thinking in every area and routinely celebrate the many successes and achievements of our students. Through our participation in Accelerated Reader, every student is encouraged to read daily in order to maintain and increase reading proficiency. At BSMCA, we want ALL students to participate in their interests and receive the support they need to prepare for the next level in their educational journey. Please feel free to reach out to a member of our staff if we can assist you in helping you or your student meet that goal.

In partnership,
Principal Layner
