School-Related Employee of the Year for 2018-2019

School-Related Employee of the Year for 2018-2019
School-Related Employee of the Year for 2018-2019The Lee County School District is pleased to announce that Paul Milford is the 2018-2019 School-Related Employee of the Year. Milford is the Social Worker at Bonita Springs Middle School Center for the Arts.

In the first semester, under Milford’s leadership, student attendance increased at Bonita Springs Middle while other middle schools saw a slight decline. His changes mean six more students are in class every day and learning. “I never understood the impact a school social worker could have when one chooses to invest themselves in a school the way he has,” says Principal Melissa Layner.

Milford is described by his colleagues as a go-getter who sets the example of what it means to put your heart and soul into your work. “Paul is always the first to volunteer, the first to lend a helping hand, and the first person many of our staff, students and parents go to for resources and support,” says School Counselor Sarah Bleecher. “He truly thinks he is just doing his job, but he is doing so much more than that.”

The School Related Employee of the year represents the thousands of dedicated staff members that work in Lee County Schools every day. They are the counselors, psychologists, social workers, helping teachers, paraprofessionals, secretaries, cafeteria staff, custodians and more.

The District congratulates all the nominees and finalists for this award, saying it is getting continually harder to name just one School Related Employee of the Year.
