Bonita Springs Middle School Dress Code
(from our 2009-2010 Student Handbook)
Bonita Springs Middle School’s dress code policy is consistent with the Lee County School District Dress Code Policy.
Dress appropriately
1. Pupil dress and appearance should fall within the limits of cleanliness, good grooming, and proper taste
2. HATS OR HEADGEAR are not to be worn (may be carried in book bag for P.E. and field trips only). Bicycle helmets MUST be worn if you ride your bicycle to school.
3. Clothing and jewelry shall be neat and clean.
a. Any articles of jewelry that could likely cause injury, such as belts, chains, bracelets, rings, chokers with or without spikes, or studs, are prohibited. Wallet chains of any lengths are prohibited.
b. Clothing shall not make suggestive reflections on groups, classes, or national origin of people.
c. Clothing shall not promote suggestive, obscene, or profane statements or symbols.
d. Apparel, emblems, insignias, badges, or symbols that promote the use of alcohol, drugs, tobacco, or any other illegal activity are prohibited.
e. Apparel or symbols which may be gang or cult related are prohibited.
f. Clothing with slogans or advertising which by its controversial or obscene nature disrupts the educational setting is prohibited.
4. Shorts one inch above the knee are permitted.
5. Skirts and dresses may be worn IF they reach fingertip length.
6. Shirts and blouses must be buttoned; back, chest, and stomach areas must be fully covered.
7. Extremes in dress or grooming (i.e., hair dyes, glitter, dreadlocks, spikes, etc.) that cause undue attention or become a disruptive influence ARE NOT ALLOWED.
8. Intentionally altered clothing and ill fitting garments are not allowed.
a. Ill fitting, low hanging pants or shorts where underwear is exposed either above or below the beltline.
b. Garments which expose skin, underclothing or private areas.
C. Pants shall be worn fastened and on the waist. Belts are encouraged.
9. NO TEE SHIRTS OF ANY COLOR ARE PERMITTED COLLARED SHIRTS MUST BE WORN, BUTTONED, and TUCKED IN.
The consequence for dressing inappropriately will result in:

Backless, halter tops Open Net Tops
Bandanas Pajamas/slippers
Bare feet Rollerball tennis shoes
Bare Midriff See--through blouses or shirts
Bicycling stretch spandex pants Short mini skirts
Body paint Spaghetti straps
Flip flops Strapless / near strapless tops
Hair Combs Sundresses
Hair Dyes Sunglasses (indoors)
Hair Paint Tank tops
Hair Picks Unbuckled belts
Intentionally altered / Ripped clothing Unbuckled suspenders
