ParentLink – A Home to School Communication System

It is strongly suggested that every new user change their password (or passcode) as soon as they log in.

• Parentlink is updated with daily information each weeknight
• The Parentlink system allows parents to use one login and password to access information for

ALL of the parent’s students in the district

• It is recommended that parents change password immediately for privacy reasons

• The parent’s login account is created by combining mainframe parent records based on the parent first name, parent last name, mailing address and student home phone.
• A unique Login and Password is generated for each person in the student’s mainframe parent contact screen

(excluding those contact’s marked with “O” for other)

• The Parent logon format has been changed effective August 1, 2007.  The new format is as follows: User name is the StudentID of the eldest child in the School District and your first and last initial. Password is your eldest child's birth date in MMDDYY format. For example: Jane Doe's eldest child's StudentID is 12345678, her user name would be 12345678JD
  Jane Doe's eldest child's birth date is January 1, 1965, her password would be 010165
• It is recommended that schools do not provide student ID’s over the phone, but instead refer parents to child’s report card or interim report for the student id

What is ParentLink?
The ParentLink is a telephone and internet browser application that allows parents and students to view up to the minute information about classes, grades or attendance at any time via telephone or  through the internet.

Will anyone else be able to see my child’s information through ParentLink?
No. In order to view a student’s information you must have both the student login number and the password. Only authorized parents/guardians will have access to their child’s grades and attendance information.

How current is the information I am viewing through the ParentLink?
Information on Grades and Attendance is uploaded every evening from our school to the ParentLink System

Attendance: Original daily attendance is entered each day by school staff and/or teachers. This attendance will be as current as possible. If you have sent in a note to excuse an absence, this may take up to a day to appear in ParentLink.

Grades: The grades viewed in the various ParentLink reports should be considered a “snapshot in time”, and these grades are subject to change as teachers enter scores into their gradebooks. Our school based requirement is that the teachers update on a biweekly basis.
 
If you have any questions regarding grades or attendance, please contact the appropriate teacher FIRST. He or she will be the first contact regarding what is shown in the
gradebook.

What do all those attendance codes mean?
All schools are required to keep track of a student’s daily attendance to school. The following codes are used to record a student’s daily attendance:
AEAE                           All Day Absence Excused
AUAU                           All Day Absence Unexcused
TETE                            Tardy to School Excused
TUTU                            Tardy to School Unexcused
SRSR                           School Related Absence – Full Day (Field trip, all day testing, etc.)
ISIS                              In School Suspension – Full Day
OSOS                           Out of School suspension – Full Day
Middle Schools also track each student’s attendance in their specific classes. The following codes are used to record this by period attendance:
PAE                             Period Absent Excused
PAU                             Period Absent Unexcused
PTE                              Period Tardy Excused
PTU                              Period Tardy Unexcused
ISS                               Period In School Suspension
PSR                             Period School Related Absence
Additional codes that you may see on an attendance report:
SGNO                           Signed Out of School Early

 What is the Email Notification system?

 This system works with our Pinnacle Gradebook System to allow parents to receive automated notification of your child’s grades and/or attendance delivered directly to you via your email account.
